At Cognitive Clarity, I understand how important it is to create a safe space for therapy. I strive to make each person feel welcomed, comfortable and understood. My approach is person centered with an eclectic approach to therapeutic tools that fits the individual's needs.
The main modalities offered at Cognitive Clarity include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). CBT, considered a talk therapy, is evidence based and focuses on exploring thoughts, feelings and behavior patterns. This approach helps individuals recognize and overcome cognitive distortion and stuck thoughts. The goal of therapeutic intervention is to enhance cognitive clarity, overcome life challenges, and enhance ability for connection.
EMDR therapy is a powerful approach that helps a person heal from difficult or overwhelming experiences that may still be impacting their life today. Experiences do not have to be extreme--and could include painful memories, anxiety, or long standing negative beliefs about yourself. In EMDR, you do not have to share every detail of the past. Instead, your therapist guides you through a structured process that uses bi-lateral stimulation (BLS). BLS helps the brain naturally process and release experiences from the past that make you feel stuck. EMDR is evidence based and shown to be an effective treatment for a multitude of challenges, including trauma, anxiety, and emotional distress.
